The pastor who taught me to pray
Exactly one year ago, August 4, 2003, died Metropolitan Anthony of
Sourozh, one of the most prominent clerics of the Russian Orthodox
Church in the twentieth century. Anthony of Sourozh lived and served
in London, in the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos.
A group of St. Petersburg cinematographers, led by director Valentina
Matveyeva, is preparing to release a film, "The life and death of
Anthony of Sourozh".
[The report continues with extensive quotes from the Archbishop of
Canterbury, Rowan Williams, who expresses the view that at one
time "Metropolitan Anthony played the most significant role in all of
Christianity, and not just in the Orthodox Church in Great Britain."]
