Pilgrims from St Catherine the Great Martyr Church depart for Alaska
On Friday, August 6, 2010, a molieben for travelers was served at St Catherine the Great Martyr Church for the pilgrims who are departing on a pilgrimage led by Archimandrite Zacchaeus to Alaska where they will participate in the celebration being held in honor of the 40th Anniversary of the Canonization of the Venerable St Herman of Alaska. Following the molieben, which was led by Archbishop JUSTINIAN of Naro-Fominsk and Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA together with Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate and the other priests traveling on the pilgrimage, His Eminence preached on sermon on the importance of making pilgrimages and the dangers of temptations that accompany good works.
After their three days in Alaska, the pilgrims will be visiting San Francisco to venerate the holy relics of St John of Shanghai and San Francisco and also visit Fort Ross.
