According to official information of the Georgian Orthodox Church, the Catholicos-Patriarch, while in Germany, had an examination, and it turned out that he needs an angioplasty with a stent.
Currently, The Primate of Georgian Church feels good, but should remain in the clinic for ten days under the supervision of doctors. As a result, the visits of Ilia II to Italy and France were postponed.
Ilia II (in the world: Irakli Gudushauri-Shiolashvili) was born on January 4th, 1933. He became leader of the Georgian Orthodox Church in 1977.
