ATHENS. On 9 October in connection with the visit to Athens of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, extraordinary security measures were made, including the cancellation of the Holy Synod of Greek Orthodox Church, since the Synod building is located near the German Embassy.
Currently Jerome II, Archbishop of Athens is in Corinth. When asked by the Greek news agency "Romfeya" about when the Primate of the Church of Hellas will return to the capital, Hieronymus II said: "I will return to Athens as soon as Ms Merkel leaves."
