Support the Monastery of Esphigtmenou
- The persecution against the fathers of the Esphigmenou Monastery on Mt. Athos continues. The Katholikon (main Church) of the Monastery is dedicated to the Feast of the Ascension. Over 200 pilgrims, who attempted to attend this last Feast, were turned away by the police. The persecution and the harassment of the fathers continues on a daily basis.
On Sunday, June 17th, 2007, the parishioners of St. Nektarios, Panagia Prousiotissa and St. Joseph Parishes are requested to attend a fund raising event which will also be an opportunity to learn more about the persecuting tactics of Patriarch Bartholomew. Talks will be given by both clergy and lay people. There will also be a video presentation during which we can all hear and see Abbot Methodios speak on the Monastery's struggle against Ecumenism.
If you are not able to attend, remember donations may be sent to St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 1223 Dovercourt Rd., Toronto, ON, M6H 2Y1, earmarked Esphigmenou. In Christ,+Fr. Panagiotes
