The Bush administration and its corporate allies will hold the 6th round of
negotiations of the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) in New
Orleans from July 28 to Aug. 1.

CAFTA aims to extend NAFTA-style "free trade" provisions to Central
America. These would undermine laws protecting labor and the environment,
      encourage privatization, and strengthen business.

A number of groups and individuals have formed the NO CAFTA Coalition to
protest the negotiations in NOLA. The coalition plans a series of events
ranging from film showings to forums to a big demonstration on Sat., July
      26.

All progressives and progressive organizations are urged to join the
coalition. Its next meeting is THURS., JULY 3, 7:00PM AT ST. MARK'S
COMMUNITY CENTER, 1130 N. RAMPART (in one of the first-floor room on the
      Gov. Nicholls' side).

The local antiwar group C3 meets in the same place right after the
      coalition adjourns.
