2 Feb: a morning on the Santa Ana River
- Fellow OC birdwatchers,
Winter birding in So. Cal is so enjoyable!
After spending a short 2 hours yesterday morning, Sunday, along the Santa Ana River in east Anaheim, we totalled up 43 species
with hardly any effort at all. We started just downriver from the Lakeview Av. bridge, parking at Riverdale Park, and worked
slowly down for about 1/4 mile or so. All the birds seemed to be in great condition and color. The large group of Northern Pintails
was so beautiful...and so funny to see them all "bottoms up" at the same time! Another treat was to find a couple of Blue-winged
Teals. It's always a delight to see them up close...and the Buffleheads...and... etc.
