RE: Common Tern at San Joaquin WS
- The second I read Tom's post, I dropped what I was doing and made my way to San Joaquin. When I got to Pond 1, there were Gretchen and Michael and Trish. Gretchen and Michael had the bird in the scope! So while I got lousy pics (though good enough for ID), I got to see the bird quite well and was very excited:)
Also seen was a Sora in Pond D today... and I had just mentioned I had been looking unsuccessfully for it for a while. What a surprise!
I just cannot thank enough those that post so quickly about these uncommon/rare birds in such a quick manner.
I was there for five minutes to see the Common when it flew towards the Stadium lights and out of sight. Had Tom posted later I would not have had the wonderful opportunity to see the bird. I am grateful.
On a side note, the Solitary at the Santa Ana River (Glassell to Lincoln) I have searched for unsuccessfully for the last three days. Today, Michael Gretchen and myself searched and came up empty handed, though the birding was wonderful.
