- Are there no Least Terns at Bolsa Chica, either nesting or summering?

Subject: [OrangeCountyBirding] Bolsa Chica, Santa Ana River, and Burris
I birded BC this morning while tide was coming in.
I walked south and took a look at Tern island first, still lots of chicks
yet to fledge from the Black Skimmers and Elegant Terns. There were some
Forster's as well, with a single female Surf Scoter out in the bay in front
of the island.
Over along the main loop from the wooden bridge, there were some decent
numbers of Least Sandpipers, and quite a few Greater Yellowlegs. 3 Reddish
Egret were in view at the same time. Lots of Long-billed Curlew and a few
Whimbrel, Dowitchers etc. The Horned Grebe continues, and I also had an
Eared, Clarks, Pied-billed and Western.
Around 5pm I met up with Sandy Remley and we walked SW along the Santa Ana
River from Glassell. I was surprised to see at least a dozen (or more)
White-faced Ibis. There were also several Greater Yellowlegs and 2 Black
Skimmers were seen. We also had many Forster's and a few Caspian Tern, no
doubt headed back to Burris Basin.
We also went to the south end of Burris Basin for a quick look. A few
Western Grebe were swimming, and lots of activity on the big island where
the birds are nesting. There also looked to be some activity on the small
Least Tern nesting platform, but not too much. Maybe a dozen birds?
