Group Description

A list dedicated to the proponents of large scale model railroading in the scale known as 1:20.3 (NMRA's proposed "F" Scale designation). Currently, this scale is primarily focused on the use of existing Gauge One track (45mm) in 1:20.3 scale (which equals 15mm per foot) to represent typical three foot narrow gauge railroad equipment; but some modelers have standard gauge underway, and two-foot gauge is also a viable option. Most modelers in this scale are more attentive to overall scale and detail issues, "finescale" if you will, with less emphasis on the "toy train" aspect.

While we are currently a rather limited scale, the continued release of new products by both the mainstream manufacturers, as well as the smaller manufacturers; has shown that this scale is definitely growing and gaining in popularity -- and should finally supplant the traditionally touted scales using #1 gauge track for accurate and prototypical modeling.

We welcome all the old-timers in accurate large scale; as well as the newer modelers who have recently discovered that true-to-scale models simply look better, when built at the proper proportion of scale to gauge. Join us, and see what is really possible in realistic large scale today.
