Subject: [Philmont 2013] Provisional (individual) openings

      All,

From the meeting last evening we need to get at least two more (+2) individual registrants for the Provisional crew this summer; otherwise, due to Philmont's minimum crew size limit, we may be forced to split up the five that we already have and mix them in with Unit crews.  This will forfeit the per-person deposit for that crew paid by NCAC, so we want to avoid that if possible.

Below is a ready-made 'sales pitch', as well as Brian's explanatory information (much of it is duplicated in the pitch):
      ------------------------------------------------------

Interested in going to Philmont this summer?  Philimont is the crown jewel of BSA's High Adventure program and NCAC has spaces available on a Council-sponsored trip departing on July 14 and returning on July 28.  We are looking for at least two individuals (perfect for a father-son trip!) to fill out a provisional crew.  Multiple Scouts from the same unit are welcome to sign up.  With shakedowns and other preparations starting soon, we really need to fill these seats as soon as possible.  Trip cost is estimated at $2,150 per person and includes the Philmont fee, all air and ground transportation, two days of sightseeing and activities in New Mexico (including a tram ride up Sandia Peak and whitewater rafting), all meals, lodging en route to Philmont, and all admission fees and gratuities.  This is the trip of a lifetime, so sign up now.  The registration form and instructions are available at:
      https://www.doubleknot.com/openrosters/DocDownload.aspx?orgkey=1988&id=107211
Note that the available slots are on P716.  For more information, contact Dave Talbott at dave.talbott@...

Subject: Re: Ops Subcommittee Meeting: Thursday, February 7

      All -

As I mentioned tonight, there was some confusion about date changes for future meetings.  Our March meetings will take place as scheduled, on Thursday, March 7.  For our regularly scheduled April meeting date, NCAC has their Court of Honor that night and they've asked that no other activities be scheduled for that same evening.  Therefore, our April meetings will be held on Thursday, March 28.

Also...please try to promote the openings on our provisional Philmont trip.  The trip departs on July 14, travels to Philmont via Albuquerque, and returns on July 28.  We need at least two individuals, and at least one of those must be a youth (perfect opportunity if there's a father-son duo looking to go).  We risk losing money if we have to divide the current five provo participants among other crews and surrender the crew back to Philmont.  Please pass the word along as we have to resolve this situation this month.  The application is online at https://www.doubleknot.com/openrosters/DocDownload.aspx?orgkey=1988&id=107211.  Please note that the openings are on P-716 only.

Robert...can you pass the information in this email along to the general committee?
