Help local candidate
Scouts and Scouters: Cleveland Anderson, the NCAC BSA Occoquan District Finance Chairman needs help and has turned to the Boy Scouts.
Cleveland Anderson is running for the 52nd District of Virginia.
He is looking for about 8 clean-cut adolescents about 17 years old with a driver’s license to go door to door with his campaign materials.
They will travel in pairs and receive compensation.
The work is to be performed on Saturdays and Sundays four hours at a time.
This is a good opportunity for civic-minded scouts (including varsity etc.) or people looking for a little political experience. Cleveland’s cell number is (703) 624-8235 and his email address is ClevelandPWC@....
NOTE: Please note that in 1916, in order to protect the proprietary marks of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the U.S. Congress granted the BSA a federal charter (36 USC § 21 et. seq.), which gives the BSA "the exclusive right to use emblems, badges, descriptive or designating marks, and words and phrases [the BSA] adopts." Supporting candidates in uniform violates these protections.
This is not a scouting event as we are politically neutral. "Scout uniforms shall not be worn to political events or rallies, protests or demonstrations where its appearance could reasonably be used to imply BSA support for a particular political cause or candidate.
Uniforms CANNOT be worn and there can be no association with scouting. Think of this simply as a Scout opportunity they may want to pursue directly with Cleveland Anderson, our Finance Chair, who is asking for help.
