Please pass this info again to all scoutmasters to be sent to all interested scout families.

Please find the attached PDF explaining the homecoming for Cpl. Josh Himan this Saturday April 2nd at 10am.

Location is Mapledale Shopping Center on Dale Blvd. Parking at the center.

After an injury leaving Marine Cpl. Josh Himan paralyzed many in the community got together to help renovate his home to make it wheelchair accessible.

Many were scouts, come out and show your support and welcome Josh home. It will only take about an hour.

I think it would be appropriate to have the scouts in uniform to wave him on.

At this point, it appears to be a fairly low turnout and we need your support. Come on over and welcome him home.

All scout families in the district...Please feel free to contact me directly anytime if needed.

      Part 1:

Josh was critically injured in September 2009 when his Humvee hit an improvised explosive device in Hellmund Province, Afghanistan. His spinal cord was severely damaged, and as a result, he is paralyzed from the chest down. Together, the Fuller Center for Housing, project sponsors and numerous volunteers are renovating the Himan home and
constructing an addition to make the house accessible for Josh. The project includes a first-floor bedroom with sufficient space to maneuver, an accessible bathroom and kitchen, wider doorways and
hallways, a wider driveway and a ramp into the home. Josh is currently recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, but will return home on April 2.

      Part 2:
Join us on Saturday, April 2, as we welcome Marine Corporal Josh Himan home to Prince William County. Josh will be escorted home by the Prince William County Police Department. Those who would like to wish him well are invited to participate as spectators along a portion of the procession route. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate including clubs, organizations, community groups, civic associations and individuals. Spectators will be assigned specific locations along the procession route to ensure coverage of as much of the route as possible.Information packages will be distributed to those who would like to participate and will contain the spectator's designated route location, available parking and safety guidelines. Spectators are encouraged to bring signs and banners welcoming and thanking Josh, and American flags will also be distributed to wave as the procession passes. Due to tremendous enthusiasm in the community and desire of numerous groups and individuals to be involved in welcoming Josh, coordination of participants is critical to ensuring public safety and the success of the day's events. It is critical that anyone who would like to participate contact us to find out how to they can be involved. Anyone interested in participating, whether an individual or a group, is asked to contact Delain Moyers at (703)792-4620 or dmoyers@... for event information and a participant package.
