      That is right Michael. To keep cars from rolling onto the main, and they need to be set back enough too. There are two main styles, the kind that clamps onto the rail and the kind that looks like a point. One of the later appears adjacent to the locos in this photo.  I will need to model this particular derail at some point (planning to use a single one of Lou Cross’s points to do it).



      Might even include a lock that must be unlocked first, like:
