Third Unitarian Church Forum Sunday on Kairos Palestine with CJPIP's Janet Settle
- View SourceThird Unitarian Church Forum Committee will present this Sunday at 10:00am:Feb 24 Kairos Palestine, Janet Settle Speaking on Kairos USA, a movement of American Christians organized as response to the 2009 call of Palestinian Christians to stand with them in their struggle for their fundamental human rights, at the same time by expressing love for their sisters and brothers in Israel who for their entire history as a state have been suffering from the social, psychological and spiritual costs of militarization and war itself. The call expresses an urgent need to support nonviolent resistance to oppression on the part of Palestinian and Israeli civil society and to continue to build the growing international grassroots movement that will break the current political logjam. Janet Settle is a founding member and serves on the steering committee for the Committee for a Just Peace in Israel and Palestine (CJPIP). Since 2002, CJPIP has engaged in interfaith, intercultural advocacy work for a better understanding of and resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Their primary goal is to change the American role in this dynamic by providing public education and advocacy opportunities that create a more informed and active electorate. In her day job, Janet is coordinator of education and international programs in the Department of Medical Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Laurel Lambert to facilitate
