Please join us this Sunday, Aug 10 at 10am for a Third Unitarian Church summer Forum:

Human Rights in Honduras:  Why we support the work of Dr. Juan Almandares.  TUC’s  Mike Collins will speak.    Dr. Juan Almendares, a Honduran medical doctor, human rights activist, environmental leader and alternative medicine practitioner is recognized for his work in the treatment of victims of torture.  A victim of repression and torture himself, Dr. Almandares, also directs a community-directed peace organization, COHAPAZ, to organize protest movements against transnational companies that impinge upon and exploit, rather than assist, the lives of Hondurans. His Honduran HealthCenter (HHC), founded with the assistance of SAC members, is a Tegucigalpa-based health clinic that provides free health examinations and consultations in various urban barrios and health brigades to needy rural communities. Dr. Mike Collins is on the board of Enable International, an organization that raises money for Dr. Almandares in this country.  Mike is also Professor of Pharmacology at Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine.
