      Hello folks, calling folks

Some people on this list may be interested to know that New Zealand
manufacturer North Yard has released an 8mm diameter seven-curved-
      spoke wheel. It's intended as a 1:64-scale replica of a 20-inch
diameter ‘Edgar Allen Cast Steel, Sheffield’ wheel that was common on
bush trams in New Zealand, but serves equally well as a a 13-3/4
inch wheel in 7mm scale. The wheel consists of a moulded plastic
centre with a blackened brass tyre to RP25 Code 88 profile. It's part
2163B in the North Yard catalogue. North Yard hasn't produced an axle
yet -- the wheels are sold individually for mounting on your own
axles. They're designed to fit on 1.2mm brass axles; North Yard sells
straight brass wire suitable for the job.

These wheels are an advance on anything available in the past as all
components have been produced specially for the job, instead of
adapting the wheel design to use existing OO-gauge tyres and axles.
As a result the rim and hub are much closer to scale.

Some North Yard parts are available from Branchlines, but I don't
know if they are stocking these wheels. Alternatively North Yard do
direct sales and can take payments by Visa card. The export (NZ tax-
free) price for these wheels is nzd1.35 each. Their email address is
<northyard@...> (no web site). I've put a photo in the photos
section if you want to see what they look like.
