      Hello Nyack friends, 

      Below is your personal invitation to join us for our event, Special Film Benefit for Poet on the Prairie”, on May 17th, 2012 at Piermont Pop Up. If you haven’t been there yet, the venue is fun!  We’ll have wine and food tasting, sneak peak of the film, special guest reading, silent art photography auction, and raffle for adventure trip to a magnificent 11,000 acre wild horse sanctuary nestled in a pristine wilderness outside Hot Springs South Dakota. (also below is the press release about the event). 
       
      We anticipate 40-75 guests and great conversations! Support for the event has already started out strong with Café Barcel, Liquorland, and Piermont Pop Up helping underwrite our costs and support the film. The goal of the evening is to help ensure the completion of this film, and ultimately the future of the wild horses that live out their days in freedom on the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary.

      The romance of the West is alive in Piermont, New York on May 17th

      PIERMONT, NY-   “The wild horse is an irreplaceable national treasure. It would be a tragic mistake to allow this noble creature to disappear from our western landscape,” said Robert Redford.  With these words, Hudson Valley’s most unique and evolving space, Piermont Pop Up, is pleased to announce its special fundraiser for the documentary film, “Poet on the Prairie”  on Thursday, May 17th at 7:30 pm.  Tickets are available starting at $75, and can be purchased online via Brown Paper Tickets.  Piermont Pop Up is located at 530 Piermont Ave in Piermont, NY 

      Poet on the Prairie is a feature length documentary film, includes breathtaking scenery shot in the Black Hills Wild of South Dakota; western Oregon and Michigan's Lake District.  Rockland County resident and award winning filmmaker Suzanne Mitchell focuses her lens on the main real life character; cowboy, writer, and conservationist Dayton Hyde.  Shot over the last decade, this film tells a story of one man’s unstoppable mission to save the lives of hundreds of wild horses while setting his own spirit free.  The majestic images of wild horses running free on Hyde’sBlack Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary is a striking contrast to their earlier life in captivity.  Poet on the Prairie’sExecutive Producer is two-time Academy Award winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple.  View the documentary trailer,click here .

      The special benefit evening will include: a rare, sneak peak of selected scenes from the film, special guest readings taken from Dayton Hyde's award winning and emotional moving books, silent art auction of award winning photographer Karen Tweedy Holmes’ work, and some delicious foods paired with wines from Nyack’s Café Barcel, and Suffern’s Liquorland.  

      The goal of the evening is to help ensure the completion of this film, and ultimately the future of the wild horses that live out their days in freedom on the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary.  Purchase tickets for $75 and be included in the film’s “Special Thanks” credits.
