Let's face it; there just isn't much about Africa in North Texas. So we wanted to share with you Dallas Museum of Art (DMA)'s "Celebrate Africa!" programs on January 7 & 8.
1) Special exhibition: Variations on a Theme: Three Olumeye by Olowe of Ise continues at DMA through January 15.
2) Saturday, January 7 ; Panel Discussion, 2:00 p.m.
Panel discussion on collecting African art with Phillip Collins, chief curator, African American Museum Dallas; Dr. John Pemberton II, Yoruba art specialist; Gerald Smith, art collector; John Buxton, Antiques Roadshow appraiser; and Dr. Roslyn Walker, Dallas Museum of Art curator of African art.
3) Saturday, January 7 ; 3:00 p.m -- A concert featuring KUMAASI African Ensemble.

There are numerous Africa events for Sunday, January 8 as well at DMA.Further, NTPCA has already scheduled a visit to Nasher Sculpture Garden at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 7 (free before 12 noon), (The Nasher is cross the street from the DMA.) We meet us in the Nasher lobby at 10:30 AM, and then eat at an international restaurant -- maybe Cafe Brazil in Deep Ellum?Ed & Maria Hromatka
