In case anyone in the RPCV group wants to volunteer, the Red Cross still needs people to work at their shelters but everyone must go through a training class first. The schedule for classes is given below. Note that the last scheduled training in Saturday October 1.  So please pass this on to the North Texas Group.

We in the Dallas Regional Recruitment Office are planning to volunteer with the Red Cross as a group on October 14th. Will let you know if that happens for sure.

      Sharon,

I just called the Red Cross Volunteer Hotline.  The training is only available this week (through Saturday Oct 1st).  I left a message to volunteer on Friday, October 14th at the Convention Center from 7am - 4 pm.  They also have work available at their headquarters.

Hopefully, I'll get a call back from them soon... I'm just not sure if we'll be able to do it as a group.  It might be worthwhile to go ahead and send the RPCVs the training information so they can be qualified this week.  Then, once I've heard back about details, we can plan a group outing.  I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.

I hope that is clear as mud!  Thanks!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the American Red Cross.   Below is the training schedule for volunteers, which will be held on September 23, 2005, through October 1, 2005.   You must attend a training session before working in our shelters (this is our area of highest need- you must be at least 18 years old to work at our shelters). You do not need to register for these classes, just show up at our main office at 4800 Harry Hines Blvd. Dallas, TX 75235.

We also have a great need for daytime/weekday volunteers at our main office. This work does not require previous training, but will include a brief orientation.  You could assist in one of the following areas:

      *reception area/front desk

      *hotline- incoming calls

      *warehouse/logistics

      *data entry

      *returning calls/scheduling volunteers

If you are interested and available during the weekday, please call 214-678-4906 and leave a message with your available times. Please do not call this number to register for the training classes.

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL.   THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING
