      and per diem for meals and incidental expenses.

      Position Description at a glance:

      *Transportation Operations Specialist: *

      GS-5, GS-7, or GS-9 (DOE & Mgmt need), Promotion Potential: GS-11

      Duty Locations: San Francisco CA, Monterey Park CA, San Diego CA, Phoenix
      AZ, Honolulu HI

      Under the general direction of the FMC Manager, the selected candidate
      assists in the management and operation of a fleet, serves as a single
      source for all Fleet Management services and support for assigned customer
      and supplier accounts.

      Responsibilities may include the following;

      � Determination of vehicle requirements by customer activities
      served and assurance that such requirements are met;

      � Oversight of established measures of program performance;

      � Contract Administration over a number of contracts established to
      facilitate the receipt, disposal and repair of vehicles;

      � Provide oversight and manage the complex supplier network,
      conveying procedures, evaluates maintenance trends and downtime, customer
      complaints and compliance to contractual obligations.

      The selected candidate will also share the responsibility to perform some
      clerical, along with technical and administrative tasks to accomplish these
      responsibilities and to meet workload demands.


      Directly related experience in automotive fleet operations (commercial,
      governmental, automotive industry or transportation logistics) which
      provided a basic knowledge of acquisition, fleet maintenance, accident
      management, commercial and retail automotive vendor support, vehicle
      remarketing, and use of web-based automated motor vehicle
      management/logistical systems.

      Experience may have included assisting in collecting/analyzing cost
      elements and efficiency data, monitoring program effectiveness to improve
      operations, customer service , vehicle safety and vendor competition
      methods; collecting data and reviewing a variety of reports relating to
      vehicle use, expenses, and income to identify problems or trends; recommend
      rental rates for fleet management use; auditing vehicle files, maintenance
      records, procurement actions, license tag and credit card registers, motor
      vehicle accident records, and the dispatch vehicle reservation system.

      *Education may be substituted for experience.* Transcripts must be

      Qualifying educational degree programs: A Bachelor�s or Master�s degree
      from an accredited college or university in the following degree programs:
      Business management, accounting, commercial law, commerce, economic,
      engineering, industrial management, statistics, traffic management or
      transportation or a degree in a related field that included at least 24
      semester hours of course work in any of the fields identified.
