Hi RPCVs - Here is a request for RPCV speakers at a San Jose middle
school. If you are able to help, please contact Vanessa directly. I
can mail you some brochures and stickers to help with your presentation,
or you can register your talk at www.peacecorps.gov/ThirdGoal and you
will be mailed a resource kit. Thanks,

      Good Afternoon Nathan:

Per our telephone conversation yesterday, we are interested in having a
speaker come to our school to talk about the Peace Corp. I would
imagine the audience would be two classes together, of approximately 60
students. Mostly likely, they will be 8th graders. We would like a
volunteer who has already worked in different locations around the
world. My guess is that very few of our students know about the Peace
Corp., what they do and the job/travel possibilities. This would
enlighten them. We are looking at a period of 50 minutes and sometime in
the next three months. Our students are mostly Hispanic just to give
you an idea of our student population. Our school is located in
downtown San Jose, at 2nd and Hedding Streets.

We also ask that the speakers emphasize reading and how their careers
would not be possible if they were not able to read. We are always
trying to motivate our kids to read.

If you need any more information, please call me at (408) 535-6267.

Thank you very much! I hope to hear from you soon.
