      The Golden Gate Festival is hosted by Piedmont Choirs, a nonprofit choir
      incorporated in 1983 in order to educate and train East Bay children aged 6-18
      in the art and technique of music and to perform with the highest artistic
      standards locally, nationally, and internationally. The Choir currently has
      approximately 360 children enrolled in the program, representing cities in
      Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The Festival was founded in 1991 with the
      mission to promote international harmony through music. Children from visiting
      choirs are housed with local families to enrich the cross cultural impact of the
      festival. This year's festival will feature international choirs from the
      People's Republic of China, Benin (Africa), and Austria. Domestic choirs
      featured are from Seattle, Chattanooga, Minneapolis, Livermore and Mill Valley.

      Concerts are scheduled throughout the week:

      Opening Ceremonies and Concert: Tuesday, June 7th – 3 pm
      Mormon Interstake Center, 4780 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland
      Features eight visiting choirs from China, Austria, Benin (Africa), Chattanooga,
      Seattle, Minneapolis, Livermore and Marin. Special Guest: Clockwork
      Free concert

      Competitions and Community Concerts:
      Wednesday, June 28th:
      Historic/Folk Competition–First Congregational Church, 2345 Channing Way,
      Berkeley, 7:30pm. Features choirs from China, Chattanooga, and
      Minneapolis
      Free concert
      Community Concert–Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley, 1 Lawson
      Rd.,Kensington, 7:30pm. Features choirs from Seattle, Marin, Livermore,
      Piedmont
      Free concert

      Thursday, June 29th:
      Historic/Folk Competition–First Congregational Church, 2345 Channing Way,
      Berkeley, 7:30pm. Features choirs from Benin (Africa), Marin, Piedmont
      Free concert
      Community Concert–St. Joseph’s Basilica, 1109 Chestnut Street, Alameda,
      7:30pm. Features choirs from Austria, Chattanooga, Minneapolis, Piedmont
      Free concert

      Friday, June 30th:
      Historic/Folk Competition–First Congregational Church, 2345 Channing Way,
      Berkeley, 7:30pm. Features choirs from Austria, Seattle, Livermore
      Free concert
      Community Concert–Old First Church, 1750 Sacramento St., San Francisco,
      7:30pm. Features choirs from China, Benin (Africa), Piedmont
      Tickets: $15/$12 for seniors and full time students

      Gala Closing Concert: Saturday, July 1st – 7:30 PM
      Massed choir of 500+ with performances by Dance Naganuma and competition winners
      Farnsworth Theatre, Skyline High School, 12250 Skyline Blvd., Oakland
      Tickets: Advanced sales: General admission $20/$10 students 18 & under/Premium
      seating $40
      General admission $25/$15 for students 18 & under at the door
