      Gentle RPCV:

As you may have noticed, Peace Corps announced that it is:

      ---

"increasing the readjustment allowance provided to Volunteers on
April 1, 2010. As of that date, the readjustment allowance will
increase to $275 per month, an increase of $50 per month. This
increase means that Volunteers completing a full 27-month tour
      will receive $7,425.00"

      ---

They will also increase the readjustment allowance for Third-Year
Volunteers by $100 to $375. So that third year of service would
be worth $4,500 under the new pay system.

That's all well and good, but another RPCV colleague writes:

"My son is receiving about $4,700 as the educational award for
just one year of Americorps service, and newer AmeriCorps
volunteers receive more, so overseas experience is still
      undervalued!"

So it's definitely a step in the right direction, but still a
      small step.
