Maintenance Specialist, Camp St. Albans (Allyn)
$11.00 per hour, 3 month temporary

Camp St. Albans is a busy Girl Scout camp, located just outside of Allyn in Mason County. The gorgeous 414 acre property contains a lake, has significant elevation changes and dozens of structures. Camp St. Albans is used nearly year round with programming that includes resident and day camps during the summer season, rowing, canoeing, sailing, archery and horse programs. Our maintenance staff takes great pride in the upkeep of this beautiful camp.
Girl Scouts of Western Washington (www.girlscoutsww.org) is currently seeking a motivated Maintenance Specialist to assist our small camp property team in preparing the camp for the summer season. The Maintenance Specialist will be a key member responsible for helping to ensure the usability, safety and security of Girl Scouts of Western Washington’s Camp St. Albans property and facilities. This is a full-time, temporary position that will run through the end of June.
Qualified candidates should have prior experience with a variety of general maintenance skills and be comfortable working outdoors in the bracing Pacific Northwest spring weather. Mechanical skills including plumbing, electrical and construction are preferred. Candidates should be motivated to positively impact the lives of girls and a passion for the outdoors is preferred.

Assist in maintaining camp property, facilities and equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations, Girl Scout and American Camp Association standards, and the established maintenance plan.
Perform forestry related work in silviculture and maintenance of related roads, trails, etc.
Assist with service projects, work parties, capital and major maintenance projects.
Maintain daily log of maintenance activities and other records as directed.
May work with camp users, staff and volunteers in providing camp services.
Contribute to a positive image for Girl Scouting by maintaining positive public and interpersonal relations with visitors, users, staff, volunteers, businesses, governmental agencies and the local community.
Provide onsite, back-up maintenance and security support to designated staff, such as the Site Manager and Camp Program staff, for camp users, staff and volunteers as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· One year related experience in trade skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, vehicle and equipment maintenance and operation.
· Ability to work independently.
· Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective interaction with individuals at all levels and backgrounds.
· Availability to work varied hours including some nights and weekends as necessary.
· Valid Washington State driver’s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance or the ability to fulfill timely travel requirements across widespread regional geography.
· Satisfactory results from criminal background search.
· Willingness to maintain Girl Scout membership.
· Operate power tools and equipment including chainsaws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers and shop tools
· Work on ladders and roofs of various heights
· Operate tractors and lawnmowers
· Work in cramped spaces
· Year-round outdoor work
· Lift objects up to 50 lbs
· Physical stamina to work throughout camp, including rough terrain and extensive hills
· Work with paints, sealers, solvents, etc.
