WORTHINGTON — The Nobles County Historical Society will sponsor an evening lecture to help promote Archaeology Week in Minnesota.

"Collecting the Collectors: Public Archaeology in Nobles County" will be at 7 p.m., May 17, at the Nobles County Government Center Farmer's Room, 315 10th St., Worthington.

Jared Langseth, graduate student at Minnesota State University, Mankato, will speak.

He will talk about how his personal knowledge of private artifact collections from undocumented archeological sites in Nobles County led to a research effort to "collect the collectors."

The goal was not only to record artifact collections, but also to document site locations and provide local collectors with basic documentation training.

The Society will also have on display a few items from its collection during the event, which is free and open to the public.
