On Nov 1, the Minnesota Historical Society's online index to
Minnesota's official death certificates is being expanded by another
30 years, through 1996. The index, which provides easy access to
death certificates stored on microfilm in the History Center Library,
includes all certificates filed with the Minnesota Department of
      Health form 1908 to 1996.

The index, is available at: http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm
or through the Society's homepage at www.mnhs.org It contains the
name of the deceased, date and county of death, certificate number
and from 1955 on the maiden name of the mother of the deceased and
her birthplace, if it was in Minnesota. Researchers may search the
microfilm in person at the Minnesota State Historical Library in St.
Paul. For an $8. fee and a completed request form available on the
web site, they can order non-certified copies of death certificates
      via mail.
