Group Description

This list is open to discussions pertaining to the operations and history of the Newfoundland Railway and all other lines operating on the island of Newfoundland. Topics will also include construction of scale models of the often unique railway equipment employed.

The main narrow gauge (42") line existed from 1881 until 1988 when Canadian National ceased operations and removed the majority of the trackage. Some equipment and structures have been preserved throughout the island thanks to the efforts of concerned individuals and community groups.
