This is one of those "I was there" kind of shows. Don't miss this
one. Johnny Nicholas worked with all the greats and he is indeed in
that category as well. Also, Johnny has many musical soul-mates in
New England, his former home. The stage will be a rotating cast of
friends who happen to be amazing musicians.
Blues great John "Johnny" Nicholas
returns to Boston after 20 year absence.
Johnny was a fixture in the Boston Blues scene of the mid seventies
when he and his band "Guitar Johnny and the Rhythm Rockers" held court
every Monday night at the legendary "Speakeasy Night Club" at Inman
Square, Cambridge and performed all over Boston, New England and the
U.S. The core of the band was : John Nicholas-guitar, piano harp and
lead vocals, Ronnie "Little Ronnie Earl" Horvath-guitar, Mark "Kaz"
Kazanof-Tenor and Alto Saxophones and harp, Sarah Brown-bass, Terry
"sticks" Bingham-drums. Other notable members were: David
Maxwell-piano, Ron Levy-piano, Fran Christina-drums, Johnny Ace- bass.
Allof the great touring Blues artists at the time would stop by the
"Speak" to check out the band and jam---Some of the visitors to the
Rhythm Rocker's shows were: B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Big Walter
Horton, James Cotton, Jimmy Rogers, Hubert Sumlin, Amos Garret,
Rosevelt Sykes, J. Geils, Magic Dick, Guitar Jr., Carey Bell, Geoff
Muldaur and many others. Johnny left in 1978 to join Grammy award
winning western swing band "Asleep at the Wheel" ...

Joel Guzman--piano, organ, and button accordian(Joel just won a
Grammy--he is a true Texas treasure and phenominal musician)
