      A Wiki Warning

When is a glitch not a glitch?

      When it's a mystery.

Oliver Dreon, Jr. is an assistant professor who
      works with preservice teachers at
Millersville University. One day he noticed a
problem with a technology-integrated project his
students were working on. He had received e-mail
indicating that students had posted on the class
wiki, but when he went to look at the work, it
wasn't there. It had been deleted, and by using
the history tabs, he found a culprit.

But that's not the end of the story. The "culprit"
tearfully insisted on her innocence, and Dreon
decided to do more investigating. He returned to
the history tabs, found a pattern, and eventually
was able to reproduce the events. The wiki itself
deleted other student work retroactively when a
user worked from an earlier unsaved draft.
The accused student was guilty of a little
carelessness, perhaps, but not of any malicious
      intent.
