      Labour, First Nations join forces at conference opposing oil sands expansion
      VANCOUVER, B.C., April 18, 2013 /CNW/ - The president of Canada's largest energy workers' union will address the West Coast Oil Pipeline Summit this Friday, joining with First Nations groups to say no to Kinder Morgan and oil sands expansion in B.C.

      Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union President Dave Coles will speak at the day-long event, hosted by the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, along with the City of Vancouver and City of Burnaby.

      When: Friday, April 19th, 6pm

      Where: Sheraton Wall Centre, Vancouver

      Topic: "What is needed to build a sustainable future"

      The conference will look at the concept of transitioning from oil generated energy to alternative forms of renewable energy production. Presentations from independent subject matter experts will cover the economics, legal and environmental, risk management, Aboriginal title and rights, financing and policy making of both the existing oil industry and future renewable energy options.

      CEP is Canada's largest union in several key sectors of the Canadian economy, including, energy, forestry, telecommunications and media.
