Summer Star Elizabeth Krista-Lee Fowler was a member of the Gitanmaax First Nation in Hazelton. (CBC)A 16-year-old First Nations girl from Hazelton, B.C., has been identified as the person found dead in Kamloops on Wednesday.

The body of Summer Star Elizabeth Krista-Lee Fowler, of the Gitanmaax First Nation Band, was discovered by a man walking his dog in an undeveloped part of the Guerin Creek neighbourhood at about 12 p.m. PT.

RCMP believe Fowler was the victim of a homicide.

Kamloops RCMP say a missing person report had been recently filed on the girl, but Terrace RCMP confirm she was not reported missing to their detachment.

RCMP ask anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Guerin Creek area between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning to contact them or Crimestoppers.
