Re: [N_O_A] Hello from Ivan Odom's daughter Cheri (Montana)
- Dear Cheri, It is such a breath of fresh air to hear some new and inspiring ideas from some of our newer members, especially in the area of working on our GENEALOGY at the reunions!! Thanks for coming forward and giving them. And thanks to Ivan for his part. And thanks to Jimmy Ray, who seems to poke at a LOT of us to get moving in the right direction! It also sounds like I need to resurrect MY Malachi Odom Migration Map! It is old and tired at this point, and at one time I started to make a Power POint program from it. Who knows.... Maybe I will get that done before July now!At first I thought you were going to suggest a big USA map with the pins to indicate where WE came from for the reunion.... I don't recall us doing that before... but then, there have been 26 reunions.... and I may not remember each detail!So..... where can we count on YOU to do and arrange and instruct others for the flannel board display? Great idea! So help us begin! Are you a TEACHER?????Thanks.... and I really am looking forward to meeting you!Dorothy Odom BruceNOA President 2005-6----- Original Message -----From: solutions1546Sent: Sunday, February 26, 2006 7:01 PMSubject: [N_O_A] Hello from Ivan Odom's daughter Cheri (Montana)Hello everyone. I really enjoyed my last issue of NOA newsletter and
it really moved me off dead center for looking into the "TREE". Of
course, Jimmie Ray is great at poking at Dad and making him do some
research. It is the next conference that actually has me stirred up.
I always seem to have more ideas than time, but this is one that Dad
and I talked about after the last conference, being neophytes in
this arena, we weren't quite up to speed, thus the ideas.
1. What about a big US Map with numbered pins of different colors
(assigned by NOA family)tied to information such as family
(Malachi), County (Burk(e)) , birth place of ______, movements of
the Malachi family, etc. It would be a great visual aid to those of
us that don't know where all this stuff is, and secondly, maybe
there will be pins in the same location triggering new info for
2. Along this same idea, a giant flannel board with all the
geneology trails. We could again arrive with our part done just the
putting up. My thought would be to use 3x5 cards with what ever info
and each of us could again be assigned colors by our NOA families.
Here again, maybe we would visually find some overlapping info that
would get some of us unstuck and if nothing else we would have a
wonderful idea of everyones families and their own connections.
3. The 3x5 cards could hold pictures as well as info b., d., m. Cheri
