Group Description

Established October 1, 2001, the Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center (LMRCSC) is a cooperative agreement between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrative (NOAA) and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). The LMRCSC is funded by NOAA’s Educational Partnership Program and its goal is to establish research and training programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities that are congruent with the programmatic interests of the National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries). This cooperative was borne out of a need to enhance the matriculation of well trained scientists (from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds) into fields that serve the national interests to conserve and manage our living marine resources and to enhance the diversity of NOAA's future workforce.

This group has been created to showcase activities, and provide another mode of communication for the member institutions of the Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center. The Mission of the Center is to enhance the capacity of partner institutions to conduct research congruent with the interests of NOAA Fisheries and to prepare students for careers in research, management, and public policy that support the sustainable harvest and conservation of our nation's living marine resources.
