Subject: The police brutality case of Rebecca Whitby - how you can help

As many of you know Rebecca Whitby and her mother are going to trial this week on false charges from an incident of unprovoked police violence in their own home.  Hopefully, some of you are planning to attend the rally at the Justice Center at 8:00 AM on Monday and be on the 19th Floor during jury selection and the trial to come.

For those of you who are concerned but are unable to attend the rally and the trial due to distance or work or other commitments, here are three ways you can lend your support.  The family filed complaints with the Cleveland Police Department's Office of Professional Standards and with the FBI for violation of Rebecca's civil rights, but neither of these reports have been produced yet.  The family believes they might be helpful to the trial.  They are asking that supporters contact the following people and urge them to quickly make the reports available: Police Chief Michael McGrath, phone 216-623-5000, fax 216-623-5584, email police@... and FBI's Special Agent in Charge C. Frank Figliuzzi, phone 216-522-1400, fax-622-6717, email cleveland.cv@... .

In addition, Rebecca and her family have put together a website to give more information about what happened in April and to help you get to know her better.  There are wonderful photos, quotes and videos.  You are encouraged to join as a member because that way not only does she know she has your support but you are able to post to the website and comment on anything you see there.  If we all join in, it will be like a community of support and exchange of ideas.  The website is www.thealhambraincident.ning.com .  We all look forward to your contributions on all kinds.
