Group Description

New England Folk and Folklore celebrates and supports folk music (traditional*, revival, peace/social justice), Celtic, old-time, country blues and bluegrass, as well as folk dance and folk arts in the New England and adjoining states and provinces, sharing news that affect us here.

*Traditional arts are those art forms that are learned as part of the cultural life of a group of people whose members share a common ethnic heritage, language, religion, occupation, or culturally united geographic region. Folk and traditional arts are shaped by the aesthetics and values of a shared culture and are passed from generation to generation, most often within family and community through observation, conversation and practice. -NEA

Folklore (or lore) consists of legends, music, oral history, proverbs, jokes, popular beliefs, fairy tales, stories, tall tales, and customs that are the traditions of a culture, subculture, or group. It is also the set of practices through which those expressive genres are shared. - Wiki

This group does not support pop singer-songwriter, "indy"/"alt"/"neo"-folk or other forms of pop music. For that, go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/359903317369083/
