Nonduality Highlights: Issue #4011, Sunday, September 12, 2010

We are neither different nor separate from Consciousness, and for that very reason we cannot 'apprehend' it. Nor can we 'integrate' with it because we have never been other than it. Consciousness can never be understood in relative terms. Therefore, there is nothing to be 'done' about it. All is Consciousness and we are That.

Enveloped by the darkness of many thoughts,
Overcome by madness as if struck by lightning,
Stained by impurity such as lust and the like,
All of which are difficult to prevent -
Such a mind is indeed samsara.

      One achieves liberation by realizing
The mind's nature is lucid clarity.
He (she) who is unstained by lust and the like,
Who is without any duality of subject and object,
      The superior enlightened mind
      Is defined as supreme nirvana.

Experience is not bound by any step or by no-step,
by any state or by no-state!
The mind must be still without carrying any person or object.
Be careful! Don't let the mind run to concepts
which will trick and disturb you, so be very careful!
Look to where the mind runs.
Do this without taking any steps.
Just watch the mind's activity: where it goes, what it wants.
Be careful, day and night, whether you are meditating
      or in the marketplace.

This world is really a long, long, dream. The five senses delude you at every moment. Open your eyes. Learn to discriminate. Understand His mysteries. Feel His presence everywhere, as well as His nearness. Believe me, He dwells in the chambers of your own heart. He is the silent witness of your mind. He is the holder of the string of your prana. He is the womb for this world and the Vedas. He is the prompter of thoughts. Search for Him inside your heart and obtain His grace. Then alone you have lived your life well.

Friends, the Beloved has blocked every escape:
we are lame deer and He a prowling lion.
Cornered by a fierce and bloodthirsty lion
what is there to do but surrender?
This Beloved, like the sun, neither sleeps nor eats:
He makes souls sleepless and hungry,
saying, "Come, be Me, or one with Me in nature,
so when I unveil Myself, you may behold My Face.
And if you had not beheld it,
how would you have become so distraught?
      You were earth, and now
you long to be quickened with spiritual life."
Already the Beloved has bestowed gifts
      from that world of spacelessness,
otherwise why would your spiritual eye keep gazing there?
