The monkey is reaching
For the moon in the water.
Until death overtakes him
He'll never give up.
If he'd let go the branch and
Disappear in the deep pool,
The whole world would shine
With dazzling pureness.

What hurts you, blesses you.
Darkness is your candle.
Your boundaries are your quest ...
I can explain this ...
but .. it would break ...
the glass cover
on your heart,
and there's no fixing that ...

The Worm's Waking
This is how a human being can change:
There's a worm addicted to eating
Suddenly, he wakes up,
call it Grace, whatever, something
wakes him, and he's no longer
He's the entire vineyard,
and the orchard too, the fruit, the trunks,
a growing wisdom and joy
that doesn't need
- Rumi, Mathnawi, verses IV: 2537-39, version by Coleman Barks, Delicious Laughter, posted to Sunlight
When a person awakens to the spirit of unity
and sees the oneness behind all things,
his point of view becomes different,
and his attitude changes thereby. There is
nothing and no one who is divided or separate
from him, so he experiences everything as
the self of each being. When the consciousness
of the external self is gone, then whatever
appears before him is his self.
