Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad and Transportation Museum
celebrates its one-year anniversary Saturday with tours, live music and
a book signing.
Train buffs are invited to celebrate the Nevada County Narrow Gauge
Railroad and Transportation Museum's first anniversary Saturday.
In addition to new summer hours, the museum is unveiling a new steam
locomotive, and museum volunteers will be offering guided museum tours,
live music, a raffle, food and drink. Grass Valley author and historian
David Allan Comstock will be signing copies of his book, "Exploring
The museum includes steam locomotives and railroad cars used during the
Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad's existence from 1875 until the
railroad closed in 1942.
The railroad's colorful mining past was celebrated in a locally produced
play, "Never Come, Never Go," in the 1960s.
The railroad linked the towns of Nevada City, Grass Valley and Chicago
Park with the Central Pacific Railroad in Colfax.
The Railroad Museum is a division of the Nevada County Historical
