425Re: Short Combine?
- Sep 29, 2005Thank you, Greg; I found Best's book at the local library this morning, and
expect to find combines within. I think guys who model On30 in a small
room, and with 18" radius curves,
need to take liberties with the proto design, maybe cutting out a few
windows. The car will probably end up 24-28 feet, not 42. Even then, I run
the risk of looking "funny". But I spend more time learning than modelling,

Subject: Re: <NevadaCoNG> Short Combine?
The NCNG had three combination cars 1, 3 and 5. Numbers 1 and 3 were built
F.E. Canda and Company at the time the road was opened and were 41' long. A
third combine, the number 5 was built in the company's shops in 1897 and was
42'. I don't know if you would consider these cars as short as they were of
average length for n.g. cars of that era.
