      FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES:
       
      EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice announced the release of its request for applications (RFAs) under the 2012 Environmental Justice Small Grants (EJSG) program. “The Environmental Justice Small Grants Program, supports and empowers communities working on solutions to local environmental and public health issues. The program assists recipients in building collaborative partnerships to help them understand and address environmental and public health issues in their communities. Successful collaborative partnerships involve not only well-designed strategic plans to build, maintain and sustain the partnerships, but also working towards addressing the local environmental and public health issues.”

      Cities Can Apply Now for Siemens' Sustainable Community Award, Win $20,000 Worth of Trees

      Siemens, an NLC Corporate Partner, is sponsoring The Siemens Sustainable Community Awards in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) which will award 3 communities, small, midsize and large with a donation of $20,000 worth of trees through the Alliance for Community Trees.  Winning communities are “able to demonstrate that their community has forged relationships with residents and the local private sector to set and achieve complementary economic, environmental and social goals.”
       
       
      Bikes Belong Coalition Offers Funding for Bicycle Facilities and Advocacy Projects - Grants of up to $10,000 are available to organizations working to improve bicycling in the United States through the building of trails and paths or large-scale advocacy programs.       Bring Back the Natives Program Offers Funds to Help Restore Populations of Native Aquatic Species - Matching funds are available for projects to restore, protect, and enhance native populations of sensitive or listed fish species, especially on federal agency lands or areas adjacent to them.       Royal Bank of Canada Invites Blue Water Project Leadership Grant Applications for Watershed Protection and Safe Drinking Water Projects - Grants ranging between $25,000 and $500,000 will be awarded for leadership projects related to watershed protection and access to safe drinking water in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and the British Isles.
