Pacific Gas and Electric Company Announces Grant
Program for Local Economic Development Programs

      Deadline: August 24, 2005

Pacific Gas and Electric Company ( http://www.pge.com )
has announced that it will conduct a competitive
solicitation for grants to be awarded to local economic
development projects throughout northern and central
      California.

Last year, the program granted more than $294,000 to
      fifty-eight community-based organizations and local
governments. The types of projects the grants helped
      to fund included business retention and recruitment;
      infrastructure planning; community development and
downtown improvement; and economic development training,
      conferences, studies, and reports.
      Governmental and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
throughout PG&E's service area are eligible to apply for
grants ranging from $500 to $10,000. Other interested
organizations can partner with qualifying organizations
and apply as a team, although the application must be
submitted by the qualifying partner. Applications will
be judged in two categories: economic development and
      community development.

Visit the PG&E Web site for program information, grant
guidelines, and an online application form.
