Enhancement Request: Improved User feedback for Remote Antenna Rotators
- Improved User feedback for Remote Antenna Rotators
N1MM provides for control of rotators that are interfaced to computers on the network. Specifically, an operator on one computer can control a rotator which is interfaced to a different computer on the network. In multi-user setups, it is very likely that one or more rotator boxes will not be located in front of the operator using it.
It would be helpful to provide better feedback to the operator. Currently N1MM will automatically send rotation commands to the appropriate rotator as specified in the antenna table of the configurer. However, when these commands are sent, there is no feedback to the operator as to the status of the rotation. Given that rotators are unreliable, it would be helpful if there was a status display on the screen. To add to the confusion, N1MMRotor provides a status display for one of the rotators connected to the local computer, which may not be the one the user is attempting to control. Although currently the rotor control is accomplished using unidirectional UDP protocol, it would be desirable to `close the loop' and provide feedback to all operators about the status of all rotators.
