      Bike to the Sea's Executive Director, Clay R. Larsen, announces:

      THE FIRST 1000 FEET!

      This coming Sunday, May 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Madeline English
      School on Tremont St. in Everett, Bike to the Sea will be taking the
      first concrete step towards building The Northern Strand Community
      trail!

      Bike to the Sea has been working with the City of Everett's
      Community Development Office to launch the FIRST 1000 FEET OF TRAIL.
      When completed, the Northern Strand multi-use trail will pass
      through Everett, Malden, Revere, Saugus, and Lynn.

      Coffee, muffins, a walk through of the work site and a discussion of
      the project followed some trail clean up work will begin at 10 am.
      Work on this section of the trail will continue all summer with
      sponsorship from various businesses such as Mellon Bank, REI
      sporting goods and Home Depot.

      Look for more posting on http://www.BikeToTheSea.com as this rapidly
      moving project begins to develop.

      Those staying for the clean up should bring work boots or sneakers
      and gloves and pruning saws, branch cutters, weed whackers, spring
      rakes if you have them. Bike to the Sea will provide trash bags and
      a few hand tools.
