Boston Harbor Striper Shootout
The 6th annual Boston Harbor Striper Shootout will be held on June 18th – 20th. Admiral’s Hill Marina, Fishing Finatic’s and Russo Marine will host the event. The tournament committee has selected the charity, American Family Link as the beneficiary of the tournament proceeds. This charity focuses on the needs of our troops and their families during the current war in Iraq.
The events will kick-off with a mandatory Captain’s meeting on Friday night June 18th and culminate with an awards ceremony on Sunday night June 20th. The event will feature 10 prizes with the grand prize a 13-foot Boston Whaler. Russo Marine of Medford, Ma. has for the 2nd year in a row generously donated boat, motor, and trailer to the event.
This tournament has grown in size over the past 5 years and this year’s event promises to be even larger. World-class fishing off the coast of Boston has arrived as anglers from across the region converge on historic Boston Harbor.
Last year’s event produced the women’s state striper record (46 lbs) for 2003 and winner of the shootout, Kathy Theiling of Danvers, Ma. Ms. Theiling will return this year to defend her title and maybe claim another state record. The competition should prove to be formidable this year.
The Boston Harbor Striper Shootout is a great opportunity to promote Boston Harbor and it’s world-class fishing. Whether you troll in historic Boston Harbor, around it’s many islands, up the coast to Cape Ann or south to Scituate this year’s event promises some great fishing and camaraderie. Additionally, the charity American Family Link is timely and a critical effort to support our troops.
