Subject: [Myotubular_Myopathy] Update on Kyle
Kyle had tubes put in his ears for the second time today. He also had
his voicebox and vocal cords checked. The doctor said everything went
well with his ears and his voicebox and vocal cords are fine. He
wanted to make sure they were growing properly. He also wants to
downsize his trach once we have his ears cleared up. By down sizing
the trach, Kyle will be able to get more air around his vocal cords so
he should be able to talk more.
When he woke up he was ready to go home. The doctor said, Kyle would
not talk or make any sounds the rest of toady and most of tomorrow
because of what they did to his vocal cords. Boy, was he wrong. He
kept telling the nurse he was leaving. They kept him for an hour in
recovery just to make sure everything was ok. All the way home (it's
a 2 hour drive) he was humming, talking and wanting to eat at every
food place we passed ( for someone who does'nt eat by mouth he knows
evevery place to eat). I finally got him to go to sleep after we were
home for almost 2 hours.
Hope all is well with everyone.
