- Yes, I'll second CureCat here. Looking at the picture is impossible to make a good guess (for me) and frankly no point in doing so. FAN9821, please get some more diagnostics info so that it can make even the slightest sense to discuss options. I can't reliably say even that it is a brown spores species. I wish I knew! You might try checking out some Chinese mushroom web
sites, as the species might be something very different from anything
we find in America.
Definitely get a spore print (as suggested) and dry the mushroom and
store it in a plastic bag next time.
