      Lecturer in Literacy Development and Language Acquisition

      Stony Brook University's Department of Linguistics invites
      applications for a full-time Lecturer in literacy development and
      language acquisition, beginning Fall 2004. The position is associated
      with a university-wide New York State teacher certification program.
      The term of appointment will be for one year beginning Fall 2004, with
      a possibility of renewal.

      Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities involve teaching
      undergraduate and graduate courses in Language Acquisition and
      Literacy Development to students in teacher certification programs
      across the disciplines. The successful candidate will be expected to
      teach three courses per semester, and to participate in activities and
      meetings related to the professional development of teachers,
      curriculum design and implementation, and assessment.

      Required: Master's or doctoral degree in Linguistics, Applied
      Linguistics, Literacy, Educational Linguistics, or TESOL and
      experience in teaching. New York State TESOL Certification or
      reciprocal equivalent is highly desirable, as is prior experience
      working with teacher education programs and knowledge of p-12
      educational settings. Demonstration of active research interests in
      fields related to the position is also desirable.
