      Hi Lieven,

      I'll break this up into multiple messages - it is getting a bit long.
      This part - the xpl packet error.

      Yes I did. That page seems very specific to certain devices, but I
      wasn't able to read into how a specific incoming message maps to a
      single definition.

      I'll test this some more with a separate hub as well. But from what I
      could see, MH logged the exact same messages debug whether I initiated
      the xPL message from the local host or from a remote system. But when
      the message came from the local system, the user code didn't see the
      state notification.

      This was happening as soon as misterhouse starts up. I don't think I
      defined anything specific. My mh config contained:
      xap_disable=1

      ipaddress_xpl_broadcast = 192.168.1.255
      ipaddress_xpl = 192.168.1.17
      xpl_disable = 0
      xpl_nohub = 1
      xpl_enable_items = 1

      And after mh is started, I get the following debug messages logged by
      the hub:
      14/02/27 15:11:06 INFO: xPL Hub now running
      14/02/27 15:12:04 xPL_DEBUG: Just read 116 bytes as packet [xpl-stat
      {
      hop=1
      source=mhouse-mh.misterhouse
      target=*
      }
      hbeat.app
      {
      interval=5
      port=49352
      remote-ip=192.168.1.17
      }
      ]

      messages allocated
      ...
      This one looked good. And then 1 minute later:
