Juarez Gallery Hosts Two New Exhibitions
- Frank Juarez Gallery is pleased to announce So, hows the, uh, view from
over there? featuring photographs and text-based works by Annushka Peck
and Across the Divide featuring new abstract paintings by Brad Fleming.
Join us for an artist reception on April 6 from 5 to 8pm with an artist
talk at 6pm. The gallery is located at 604 Erie Avenue, Lower Level in
Sheboygan. This exhibition runs from March 28 through May 4, 2013.
Annushka Pecks work began as photographs of homes in 2009, in part as a
response the mortgage collapse and recession, but also as a study of the
abandoned, placarded homes in my neighborhood, Harambee. Personal in
nature, these images emerged from her experiences and an awareness of
difference tied to residence, location, race and economic position. The
work has developed to include images from the series titled, *So, hows
the, uh, view from over there?*. New work for this project aims to give
physical and conceptual form to the depth to the connections between and
underlying causes of contemporary and historical home-loss in neighborhoods
such as Harambee.
Brad Fleming work represented in this show reflects a new phase in his life
and in his approach to painting. It is about living in the present, not
dwelling in the past and looking within. It is also about Route 66,
barbeque, Steve Jobs, desert, burritos, canyons, mountains, fathers and
sons, brothers, memories and love.
Gallery hours are Saturdays from 10am-4pm and by appointment.
Open to the public.
